How to Make Passover Cake Pops with Your Kids:

Baking these Chocolate Covered Vanilla Cake Pops is super easy to do with children. To start, prepare all the ingredients in separate nesting bowls, or measuring cups. This way, they are ready for the kids to pour into one large mixing bowl. Also, make sure you have a whisk ready for them.

Following this, prepare your cake pop machine by plugging it in and warming it up. Or, if you are using a cake pan to make your cake pops, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

After this, mix the vanilla cake mix ingredients very well. Pour about one tbsp of the mixture into each cake pop mold and wait for 5 minutes until they are ready. When baking in the oven, wait 8 minutes. The baking time may vary based on your pop make machine and the type of mold you are using, but these times have worked for me.

Passover Cake Pop Recipe Tips & Tricks:

While this recipe is relatively simple, I am definitely a perfectionist. Here are some tips:

  • Be sure to add a little oil or coconut baking spray to the molds so the cake batter does not stick when you try to take them out to eat.
  • Feel free to get creative with your chocolate choices! Personally, we used chocolate bar with almonds for an added texture and added a teaspoon of coconut oil. Otherwise, melted chocolate work best.
  • To ensure your cake pops stick to the lollipop sticks, dip them first in the melted chocolate and then stick it in the center of the cake ball. This adds a little extra chocolate to boot!
  • You will need about a cup and a half of melted chocolate. I like to use narrow cups or coffee cups. This way, you are not wasting any chocolate.
  • The best way to keep the shape of the balls is by letting them cool right side up. We used a paper bowl and made holes. Funny enough, we also ended up using Play-Doh as holders. We rolled out a ball and stuck the lollipop sticks in the roll. (Be careful, because Play-Doh can transfer color onto white sticks).

I love that this recipe allows me to get creative with my kids. There are so many different topping options you can choose from to elevate your sweet treats. Plus, your kids have so much fun doing this. You will have your own mini chef running around the house. Here is what you can top them with to have some fun:

  • Rainbow Sprinkles
  • Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Coconut Flakes
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Walnuts
  • Pecans
  • A Chocolate Drizzle

Description

These Chocolate Covered Vanilla Cake Pops are the perfect Passover treat! They are super easy to make with your kids and it is so nice to let them get creative with the decorations.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake Mix:

  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups of Sugar
  • 1 cup of Oil
  • 3/4 cup of Almond Flour
  • 1 cup of Potato Starch
  • 1 tsp of Salt
  • 1 tsp of Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

Chocolate Dip:

  • 2 bars of Almond Chocolate
  • 2 tsp of Coconut Oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add all your cake ingredients (eggs, sugar, oil, almond flour, potato starch, salt, baking powder, and vanilla extract) and mix them well.
  2. Add the cake batter to the molds. Put 1 tbsp in per mold (fill to the top).
  3. Once ready, let them cool. Avoiding touching them so they keep their shape.
  4. In the meantime, in a pot, bring water to a boil and lower to simmer. Place a glass bowl on top (make sure it doesn’t touch the water), and place the chocolate in the bowl. Let the chocolate melt and mix it from time to time. Pour the melted chocolate into a narrow cup (one that can handle the heat).
  5. Dip your lollipop stick in the chocolate and stick in the middle of the cake pop.
  6. Place the cake pops in the fridge to cool for half an hour to an hour. (Or, until the chocolate hardens).
  7. If necessary, warm up the chocolate a little before starting to dip the cake pops. If the chocolate is too hot, let cool before you begin to dip the cake pops in the chocolate. After all cake pops have been covered with chocolate, place them in the fridge for one hour, or until the chocolate has hardened.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

If you wish to add sprinkles or coconut shavings, or any other toppings, do so after you dip the cake pops in the chocolate. Let the kids create their own by creating a station of dipping choices. Have fun!
