Pecan Pie Hamentash with a sweet maple icing

If you are a pecan pie fan, this recipe is made just for you! Pecan Pie Hamentash is the perfect comforting fall bite you will have this winter. Aside from the soft buttery dough to the rich maple and pecan flavors, the smell these hamentaschen will have, will make you crave a thanksgiving dinner.

Ingredients for Hamentash:

  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Egg
  • Pecans
  • Maple syrup
  • Cornstarch
  • Water

Directions for Pecan Pie Hamentashen:

What I love about these Pecan Pie Hamentash, its their buttery dough is that it’s ready in less than 40 minutes and you don’t need to use room temperature butter or eggs! For people like myself who always forget and don’t have patience to wait this is perfect.

Begin by adding butter, flour, and powdered sugar to your mixing bowl and mix on low and slowly raise it to medium. While mixing add the vanilla extract and egg. Let it mix on medium for a few minutes. The dough will not become a ball. Once you see crumbles of dough stop the mixer and start kneading the dough together in the bowl. Once most of it adheres to a ball, transfer the dough to the counter and knead until it all becomes a smooth ball. Wrap the ball in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 20 minutes.

Pecan Pie filling for Hamentashen:

You will need a food processor to make your pie filling. Begin by adding the pecans, maple syrup, and corn starch. Mix until all the pecans are chopped. See below photo for consistency.

**If you do not own a food processor make sure to buy chopped pecans, and mix all the ingredients with a spoon. The chopped pecan will be larger here but that’s ok too.

Once your filling is ready its time to assemble your Hamentash. Begin by rolling out the dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Cut circles by using a cookie cutter or a cup. Place the filling in the middle, and pinch three corners to create the hamentashen. Place the Hamentashen on baking pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown on 350 F.

Once the Hamentashen are cooled, mix the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and water in a bowl. Transfer the icing to ziplock bag or a pipping bag and decorate your hamentash.
