Easy Chocolate Frosting – Perfect for Brownies

Some days, we all need that extra chocolate kick. In quarantine, these days happen a lot more frequently than usual. A fun and creative way to do this is adding some chocolate frosting for to our homemade brownies or cake. I have saved you all the trouble and created an easy chocolate frosting to add to your next recipe. It is quick, simple, and so delicious!

While I used this frosting on some delicious brownies, the possibilities do not stop there! Put it on your cakes, banana bread, cookies, or cupcakes for some extra gooey goodness and an extra chocolate kick. I mean, who can say no to extra chocolate? I know in my house, we never do.

Chocolate Frosting Recipe Ingredients:

I love the simplicity of this recipe. The frosting can be made from ingredients you probably already have at home and will save you a trip to the grocery store. Here is everything you need to make the most delicious frosting yet!

  • Butter
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Milk
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Powdered Sugar

That’s right. Only five ingredients. FIVE! What are you waiting for?! It is time to get to the kitchen and get started.

How to Make the Amazing Chocolate Frosting:

This recipe is so easy, even the most beginner baker can have a finished result that will have them licking their fingers. In fact, there is no mixer or waiting involved. You will be eating your chocolate frosting that much faster!

To begin, simply melt the butter on the stove top or microwave. After this, mix in the powdered sugar until there are no lumps in the mixture. Then, add the rest of the ingredients to the mixture and stir it until it reaches a smooth consistency. It will be a little runny at first, so let it cool a little bit. This will allow the frosting to become a little thicker and give it that true frosting texture.

Now, it is time to decide what to put your delicious frosting on! Like I said, I opted for brownies, but feel free to have some fun with what you pick. Perhaps, you will want to put the frosting on a Pecan Chocolate Chip Loaf Cake, a Sour Cream Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin batch, or a batch of Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies. The possibilities are endless, so use this as a chance to great creative with it.

Once your baked good of choice has cooled down, pour this yummy chocolate frosting on top. You will definitely be licking the bowl clean and your fingers. It is that delicious!

Look how fast that was! It definitely took me longer to write and type this blog post than it did to whip up this frosting. You will have this amazing treat in no time at all.

Rolled in Dough – Bake with Kids Edition:

Since this recipe is so quick and simple, and doesn’t even require tools, it is a great one for the kids to help out with! Regardless of their baking skill level, they will have their own delicious frosting in no time. Frosting gives me a sense of nostalgia, so it only makes sense to let the kids pitch in. Here is what they can help out with in the kitchen.

  • Let your kids add the dry ingredients to the melted butter (just make sure it is not too hot!).
  • Watch the kids as they mix the combination together.
  • Your children can decide, within reason, what to put the frosting on. Hopefully, you trust their taste buds to make this decision.

This recipe is already so much fun. Doing it with your kids and seeing their faces once they have a delicious, gooey chocolate frosting will make this experience that much better, even if they make a mess while they are scarfing it down!

Now, you are officially ready to get started! Check out the recipe below and enjoy.
